A small business guide to marketing in Spanish
Is marketing in Spanish worth it for a local business?
It is where many of your neighbors speak Spanish.

In Santa Barbara County 33.9% of residents age 5 and over, and in Ventura County 30.1%, speak Spanish at home (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2024). Look up your own county's number before you decide.
The Spanish side lets a customer choose the language at every step, from the search to the phone call. That only works if the whole path is in Spanish: a Spanish ad that leads to an English-only page, or an English-only voicemail, loses the customer it found.
How do people search in Spanish?
With their own words, not a translation of yours. Someone looking for a plumber may type "plomero", while a translation tool might give you "fontanero", the word used in Spain.
Local SEORead moreShow less: How do people search in Spanish?
Both are correct Spanish; only one is what your customers type.
Some searches mix the two languages, like the English name of a service followed by "cerca de mí". We start a Spanish page from what people actually search for, checked in a keyword tool, then write the page around that phrase, the same way we do in English.
How should a bilingual website be built?
With a separate page for each language, each at its own address, and a clear link between them.

Google recommends separate URLs for each language version and tags that tell it which pages are versions of each other (Google Search Central, managing multilingual sites).
Google also advises against switching the language automatically based on where a visitor seems to be, because it can keep people, and Google itself, from reaching the other version. Put a language switch where people can find it, and let them choose. Keep the Spanish pages as complete as the English ones: a Spanish home page that leads to English service pages sends people back where they started.
How do you run Google ads in Spanish?
Write them in Spanish yourself, or have someone do it: Google Ads doesn't translate your ads, and its language setting only decides who can see them (Google Ads Help, language targeting).

An English ad shown to a Spanish speaker stays in English.
Keep the Spanish ads in their own campaign or ad group, so you can see what they bring in on their own, and send each one to the Spanish page for that service. If your phone is answered only in English, say so, or fix that first: the ad promised Spanish, and the call is where the customer finds out.
Should my Google Business Profile be in Spanish?
Your profile has one business name and one description, so keep the name as it is and say in the description that you serve customers in Spanish.

Then show it where you can: posts and photos in both languages, and replies to reviews in the language each review was written in.
Ask every customer for a review, in their language, right after the job. Ask in English and in Spanish the same way, never only the customers you expect to be happy, and never for anything in return: Google's rules forbid both (Google Maps user-contributed content policy). A review in Spanish that says the staff speaks Spanish tells the next Spanish speaker more than anything you could write.
What happens when a Spanish speaker calls or messages?
If nobody answers in Spanish, the marketing stops there.

Many businesses have one bilingual person, and when they're out, on a job or at lunch, Spanish callers reach English voicemail.
Victoria, our AI receptionist, answers in English or Spanish, 24/7, on calls, texts, WhatsApp, website chat and social messages, and keeps up when a customer switches language. She books the job and sends you a summary. She's a separate service, and you can get just the marketing.

What does a Hispanic marketing agency do for a small business?
We put your business in front of people who search, read and call in Spanish: a Spanish version of your website, your Google Business Profile kept up in both languages, Spanish ads if you want them, and review requests in each customer's language. You get one team for both languages instead of a translator on the side.
Can't I just run my website through a translator?
You can, but a machine translation reads like one, and it translates your words instead of using the words a Spanish speaker would search for. We write the Spanish pages ourselves, for the same customer the English page is written for.
Will a Spanish website hurt my English rankings?
Not when it's built the way Google asks: each language on its own address, with tags that tell Google which page is the Spanish version of which (Google Search Central, localized versions of your pages). Then Google can show the English page to English searches and the Spanish one to Spanish searches.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what you need: a Spanish website, ongoing SEO, ads or all three. The free 2-minute assessment works out your price from your own answers.
Do I need to speak Spanish myself?
No. We write your Spanish pages, posts and ads, and send you everything you need to know in English. If you add Victoria, our AI receptionist, she takes calls and messages in Spanish and sends you a summary.
Which kind of Spanish do you write in?
The Spanish your customers use. Words change from country to country, so we ask who your customers are and use the words they'd search for, and keep the rest neutral enough that anyone can read it.
Do you work with businesses outside Santa Barbara?
Yes. Cloud Conquer AI is based in Santa Barbara. We meet in person in the Santa Barbara area, and work by phone or video, in English or Spanish, with businesses anywhere else in the U.S.
Can you guarantee more Spanish-speaking customers?
No one honest can guarantee results or a spot on Google. What we can promise is the work: Spanish pages written for real searches, a profile and ads kept up in both languages, and calls and messages tracked, so you can see what it's bringing in.
