Painting contractor marketing
Painting contractor marketing has a calendar most trades don't: exteriors wait for dry weather, interiors fill the rest of the year, and every job you finish comes due for a repaint years later. We set up the marketing around that calendar.

A painter's guide to getting estimate requests all year
How do painting contractors get found on Google?
With a complete Google Business Profile and a page for each kind of work you do, because "interior painter", "exterior house painting" and "cabinet painting" are different searches.

Choose Painter as the primary category, and list interior, exterior, cabinet and commercial painting as services. List every service you sell, set your area to the towns your crews reach, and post photos of finished jobs with the town. Separate pages for interiors, exteriors, cabinets and commercial work give Google a page to show for each of those searches.
How do painters fill the slow season?
Sell exteriors before the weather turns good, and sell interiors and cabinets when it turns bad. The marketing moves with the season, not after it.
Google AdsRead moreShow less: How do painters fill the slow season?
Homeowners often plan an exterior repaint weeks before the job, so ads and posts about exteriors go out early, while there's still room on the schedule. When rain or cold stops outdoor work, switch the ads and emails to interiors, cabinets and commercial jobs that can be done after hours. Turn ads down when the schedule is full.
What should a painting company website show?
Rooms and houses you painted, with the colors you used, and a fast way to ask for an estimate. Someone choosing a color can see it on a real wall.

Name the paint color and brand under each photo when you know it, for the customer who already has a color in mind. Say what your prep includes, like patching, sanding and caulking, so a customer comparing bids can see what yours covers. Show your license number, insurance and, if you have it, your EPA lead-safe certification.
How do painters get work from property managers and HOAs?
By being easy to hire again. A property manager repaints units between tenants and an HOA repaints on a schedule, so one good job can turn into steady work.

Give them a page of their own: unit turnovers, common areas, fast scheduling, your insurance certificate on request. Send a short email to the managers you've worked with before their busy move-out months. Ask each one for a review or a reference after a turnover goes well.
How do painters get repeat customers?
Keep a list of every job, with the date and the colors, and reach out before the paint is due again.

A customer who had their living room painted may want the bedrooms next, and an exterior lasts years but not forever. A note a few times a year, with a photo of their own finished job, keeps your name in front of them. Only email or text people who agreed to hear from you.
How do I answer estimate calls when I'm on a ladder?
A caller who reaches voicemail while you're cutting in a ceiling may try the next painter on the list. A call answered for you keeps it.

Victoria, our AI receptionist, answers calls, texts, email, website chat and social DMs 24/7 in English or Spanish, asks about the rooms or the house, asks for photos, books the estimate visit and calls back people who filled out your estimate form. She's a separate service, and you can get just the marketing.

What is painting contractor marketing?
It's everything that gets a homeowner, a property manager or an HOA to find your painting company and ask for an estimate: your Google profile, a website with your finished jobs, reviews, and, if you want them, ads timed to the exterior season. It also means staying in touch with past customers, because a good paint job comes due again.
Can painters run Google Local Services Ads?
It depends on your area. Local Services Ads cover a set list of service categories, the list differs by market, and painting work isn't offered in every area (Google Local Services help). We check what's available where you work before you sign up. If it is, you pay Google per lead, you go through Google's screening, and the account is in your name.
Do I need my license number in my ads?
In California, painting work above the state's minimum job size (B&P Code 7048) needs a C-33 Painting and Decorating license, and licensed contractors have to show the number in their advertising, websites included (CSLB). Other states have their own rules.
Should I say I'm lead-safe certified?
If you are, yes. With limited exceptions, like small repairs, paid work that disturbs paint in homes built before 1978 has to be done by an EPA-certified firm with a certified renovator on the job (EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting rule). Owners of older homes and property managers may ask for it, so it belongs on your site and your Google profile.
Can I give estimates without visiting every house?
For many jobs, yes. Instant quotes give a firm price or a price range, your choice, from your own rates, the room sizes and the photos the customer sends. A job it can't price comes to you as a lead, never a guessed number.
How much does painting contractor marketing cost?
It depends on what you need: a website, SEO, ads, or all three. The free 2-minute assessment works out your price from your services and your area. If you run ads, you pay Google directly, and the ad account is in your name.
Do you work with painters outside Santa Barbara?
Yes. Cloud Conquer AI is based in Santa Barbara. We meet in person in the Santa Barbara area, and work by phone or video with painting contractors anywhere else in the U.S.
