- Victoria:
Good evening, your business, this is Victoria. What can I do for you?

- Caller:
Rain's getting in around our chimney. It's running down the brick inside, and the carpet's soaked.
- Victoria:
I'm sorry. Is any of the water near lights or outlets, and is the ceiling sagging anywhere?

- Caller:
No, it's just the brick and the carpet. The ceiling looks fine.
- Victoria:
Okay. What kind of roof is it, and is there an insurance claim yet?

- Caller:
Clay tile. No claim yet, we just noticed it tonight.
- Victoria:
And what address should the crew come to?

- Caller:
2210 Ridgecrest Drive, Santa Barbara. I'm Dana Whitfield, text me at 805-555-0119. Can someone tarp it before the inspection?
- Victoria:
I have 2210 Ridgecrest Drive. Tomorrow and Wednesday are full after the storm, so the earliest inspection is Thursday between 8 and 10 am, and I'll flag the tarp for the owner. If the ceiling starts to sag, keep everyone out of that room; if water reaches an outlet or a light, stay away from it and call 911. Then call us back and I'll put you through.

- Caller:
Thursday works. Thanks.

Questions people ask
Don't see yours? Ask Victoria during the assessment, or call (805) 970-2936.
What counts as an emergency on a roof?
Your rules decide, for example: water near lights or outlets, a ceiling that's sagging, or a section of roof opened up by wind. Those ring through to you. The safety lines she reads on those calls, like keeping people out of a room with a sagging ceiling, are wording you write during setup; she doesn't improvise any.
Our Angi and Thumbtack roof leads go to other roofers too. Can Victoria reply first?
Yes. After a storm, a homeowner asking for a roof inspection on Angi or Thumbtack hears from several roofers, and the first to answer usually gets on the roof. Victoria texts or calls each lead within seconds of the alert, books the inspection and sends you the address. Yelp requests reach you the moment they land, so you can answer in Yelp first.
Will she tell homeowners whether insurance covers it?
No. Coverage is between the homeowner, the insurer and you. She asks whether there's a claim or an adjuster involved, writes down the claim number if they have one, and puts it in your summary.
Can we try it before the rainy season?
Yes, and it's the best time to. You pay month to month with no long contract, and the free 2-minute assessment works out your price from your calls. Start a few weeks before the rains and she's already answering when the first storm arrives. If you're not happy in the first 30 days, we refund your first monthly payment.
More questions (4)Fewer questions
Will homeowners know it's an AI?
Yes, when they ask: she says she's an AI assistant for your roofing company. She can't see the roof, so she books the inspection and writes down what the homeowner sees from inside: where the stain is, which room, whether it's dripping.
Can a Spanish-speaking homeowner book an inspection?
Yes, start to finish in Spanish: whether it's tile or shingle, where the stain is showing, the address and the inspection window. When a homeowner starts in English and switches partway through, she switches too.
What does setup take from me?
One setup call with Nathaniel Ross, our founder, in person in the Santa Barbara area or by phone elsewhere in the U.S. On it you go through the roof types you work on, the towns you cover, your inspection windows, how you handle insurance jobs, what counts as an emergency, the safety wording you want read, and where urgent calls should ring. Your number stays the same, and you can call in and test Victoria before she answers a homeowner.
We track jobs in JobNimbus or AccuLynx. Can she add inspections there?
Let us know which in the assessment; whether it connects gets tested during setup. In the meantime, every summary already lists the roof type, the leak location and the insurance note, ready to paste into the job file.
The details
In short
The calls come on the second day of a storm, while you're tying down a tarp with your phone buzzing in your pocket.
Victoria answers them right away, asks where the water is showing up and whether it's near anything electrical, and puts each homeowner on an inspection slot, with any tarp request flagged for you.
What gets in the way
Storm-week calls pile into voicemail.Insurance paperwork eats your evenings. You can't take a call on a pitched roof.Re-roof bids get compared line by line.
Storm-week calls pile into voicemail
After a big storm the calls come while you're up on roofs, and every one that reaches voicemail is a homeowner still looking for a roofer.
Insurance paperwork eats your evenings
Photographing the damage, writing it up and formatting it for an adjuster is slow, and it's the last thing anyone wants to do after a day on a roof.
You can't take a call on a pitched roof
Falls are the leading cause of death in construction (OSHA), and a ringing phone in your pocket on a steep pitch is the wrong kind of distraction. Up there, the call goes unanswered.
Re-roof bids get compared line by line
Homeowners lay the bids side by side: tear-off, underlayment, tile or shingle, flashing. The one that arrives first, complete and easy to read, sets the terms the others are judged on.
What we do about it
Storm week, sorted.Claim notes that start themselves.Found before the rainy season.Re-roof proposals, itemized.
Storm week, sorted
Victoria takes several calls at the same time, so nobody calling after the storm hears a busy signal. Water near electrical or a sagging ceiling goes where your rules send it.
Every other leak gets the next open inspection slot, even if that's Thursday, and each tarp request is flagged in your summary, so you decide which roofs get a crew tomorrow.
Claim notes that start themselves
Each call summary lists the address, the roof type, where the water is showing up and whether insurance is involved, so your write-up starts from the homeowner's own words.
Found before the rainy season
Your website can be built to be found for the work you want (tile repairs, re-roofs, leak inspections), and ads can be running before the rainy season starts.
Re-roof proposals, itemized
With estimates and proposals set up, the re-roof proposal, with tear-off, underlayment and material options laid out, can reach the homeowner the day of the inspection.
