Questions people ask

Don't see yours? Ask Victoria during the assessment, or call (805) 970-2936.

Will Victoria give callers a price for a remodel?

No. She explains that the price comes from your bid after the site walk, because it depends on what the job turns out to be, and books the walk. If you want her to say anything more, like your usual minimum job, you write that wording during setup.

Can she give callers our license number?

Yes. Your license number is part of setup, and she reads it to anyone who asks. In California, homeowners can check it themselves on the Contractors State License Board website, and she can tell them so.

What happens when a current client calls about their project?

She answers what you've told her she can share, like the crew's usual hours, takes everything else as a message, and sends anything urgent to your phone: water where it shouldn't be, a job site left open, an inspector who can't get in. You decide what counts as urgent.

Our Angi and Thumbtack leads go to other contractors too. Can Victoria reply first?

Yes. A homeowner asking for a remodel bid on Angi or Thumbtack hears from several contractors, and the first to answer usually gets the site walk. Victoria texts or calls each lead within seconds of the alert, books the walk and sends you the address. Yelp requests reach you the moment they land, so you can answer in Yelp first.

More questions (4)

Can a Spanish-speaking homeowner or crew lead talk to her?

Yes, start to finish in Spanish: the project, the address, the visit time or the message for you. When someone starts in English and switches partway through, she switches too. Your summary always arrives in English.

Will callers know it's an AI?

Yes, when they ask: she says she's an AI assistant for your company. She can't see the house, so she books the site walk and writes down what the caller describes: which rooms, what's changing and when they want to start.

What does setup take from me?

One setup call with Nathaniel Ross, our founder, in person in the Santa Barbara area or by phone elsewhere in the U.S. On it you go through the work you take and the work you don't, the towns you cover, your site-walk windows, what she can tell current clients, what counts as urgent and where those calls should ring. Your number stays the same, and you can call in and test Victoria before she answers a client.

We run jobs in Buildertrend or JobTread. Can she add site walks there?

Let us know which in the assessment; whether it connects gets tested during setup. In the meantime, every summary already lists the scope, the address and the start date, ready to paste into the job.

The details

In short

A homeowner who wants a kitchen bid calls three contractors and walks the house with whoever calls back first.

Victoria answers while you're on the job, asks what the project is, whether there are plans and when they want to start, and books the site walk on your calendar.

What gets in the way

Bid requests land while you're on a job.Clients mid-project call all day.Half the callers want a number on the phone.Spanish-speaking homeowners and crews.

Bid requests land while you're on a job

Homeowners call several contractors for the same remodel and book the site walk with the first one who calls back.

The call that rings out while you're on a ladder or with a client goes to someone else.

Clients mid-project call all day

Where's the crew, when does the tile arrive, can we change the vanity. Each call matters to someone already paying you, and each one pulls you off the job you're standing in.

Half the callers want a number on the phone

You can't price a remodel without seeing it, and a caller who can't get a straight answer about the next step calls the next contractor on the list.

Spanish-speaking homeowners and crews

In Santa Barbara County 33.9% of residents, and in Ventura County 30.1%, speak Spanish at home (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2024).

A homeowner describing a sagging floor, or a crew lead calling about a delivery, gets the details right in their own language.

What we do about it

Site walks on your calendar.Current clients get answers. The next step, not a guess at a price.Bids out the same day.

Site walks on your calendar

Victoria asks what the project is, which rooms, whether there are plans or a permit yet, and when they hope to start, then books the site walk in the windows you set.

You get a text with the scope in the homeowner's words before you arrive.

Current clients get answers

She tells clients what you've told her she can share, takes change requests as messages, and sends the urgent ones (water where it shouldn't be, a job site left open) straight to your phone.

The next step, not a guess at a price

She never prices a remodel. She explains that the price comes from your bid after the site walk and gets the walk booked, so the caller leaves with a time instead of a maybe.

Bids out the same day

With estimates and proposals set up, the bid from the site walk, with each line laid out, can reach the homeowner the same day, and follow-ups go out until they say yes or no.
