Salon marketing

Marketing that fills open chairs and brings clients back

Salon marketing is mostly about the second visit: a new client finds you on Google or Instagram once, and the steady business is in getting them back in the chair every few weeks. We set up both halves.

A salon owner's guide to full books

  1. How do salons get found on Google?

Through the map. A complete Google Business Profile, with the right category, every service and recent photos, is what puts a salon in front of someone searching nearby.

Pick the primary category for what you do most, like Hair salon, Nail salon, Barber shop or Beauty salon, and add the others that fit. List each service by the name clients use, like balayage, fade, gel-X or lash lift, because those are the words they type. Post photos of your own work and your space every few weeks, and keep your hours right on holidays, when people book last-minute.

  2. What should a salon post on Instagram?

Your own work, close up, in good light. A client deciding between two salons is comparing sets, colors and cuts, not stock photos or quotes.

A short video of a set, a fade or a color reveal shows the work from every angle, which a still photo can't. Tag the stylist, barber or nail tech who did it, so clients can ask for them. Put your booking link in the bio and answer DMs fast: someone asking "do you have anything Saturday?" is ready to book. Ask the client before you post their face.

  3. How do salons get clients to rebook?

Ask before they leave the chair, then remind them by text when the service is due. A client who already sat in your chair is the easiest one to book again.

Each service has its own rhythm: a fill every few weeks, a color touch-up a little longer, a cut on its own schedule. Set the reminder to the service, not one message to everyone. A client who hasn't been in for a few months gets a different text, a simple "we have openings this week". Only text clients who agreed to get texts from you.

    Text message marketing
  4. How do I fill last-minute cancellations?

Keep a short waitlist of clients who said they'd take a sooner spot, and text them the moment a chair opens. An empty hour can't be sold tomorrow.

A post or story that says "one opening at 3 today" works too, for followers who already know your work. A reminder the day before also gives the client an easy way to move the appointment instead of skipping it.

  5. Should a salon market in Spanish?

If your clients or your neighborhood speak Spanish, yes. A client who can read your menu and book in their own language doesn't have to guess what they're booking.

We built the website for Tus Uñas de Ensueño, a nail studio in Baja California, in Spanish first, with English beside it, a photo gallery and appointment requests. We write your Google profile, your site and your posts in both languages, written by people, not machine-translated.

  6. Who answers the phone while I'm with a client?

Often nobody, and a caller who reaches voicemail can book somewhere else. A text back right away, or a call answered for you, keeps the client.

Victoria, our AI receptionist, answers calls, texts, email, website chat and social DMs 24/7 in English or Spanish, books the appointment and calls back clients who asked about an opening. She's a separate service, and you can get just the marketing.

Questions people ask

Don't see yours? Ask Victoria during the assessment, or call (805) 970-2936.

What is salon marketing?

It's everything that gets someone nearby to choose your salon and keep coming back: a complete Google Business Profile, Instagram that shows your real work, a website where booking is easy, reviews, and reminders that bring clients in again when their color, cut or set grows out.

Is Instagram enough for a salon?

It's where people judge your work, but it isn't where most people search when they want a salon nearby. Someone typing "nail salon near me" or "barber near me" sees Google's map near the top. You want both: Google to be found, Instagram to be chosen.

Can you connect my booking app?

Square and Mindbody connect directly. Vagaro, Fresha and GlossGenius need the vendor's approval, so we check yours on the setup call. Either way, your website and Instagram send people straight to your booking page.

Have you built a website for a salon?

Yes. We built the website for Tus Uñas de Ensueño, a nail studio in Baja California, Mexico: in Spanish and English, with a photo gallery and appointment requests. You can see it on our website design page.

Can I offer a discount for a review?

No. Google doesn't allow offering anything in exchange for a review, or asking only happy clients (Google review policies). Ask every client the same way after the visit. If a visit went wrong, our request also gives that client a way to reach you directly, offered alongside the review link.

How much does salon marketing cost?

It depends on what you need: Google, Instagram, a website, reminders, or all of them. The free 2-minute assessment works out your price from your salon's own numbers.

Do you work with salons outside Santa Barbara?

Yes. Cloud Conquer AI is based in Santa Barbara. We meet in person in the Santa Barbara area, and work by phone or video with salons anywhere else in the U.S.
